It made the already tricky transition into college life exponentially harder

I first went on birth control when going off to college; the new pharmacy in my college town messed up the prescription and gave me a WAY higher dosage of hormones than I needed. It made the already tricky transition into college life exponentially harder and I had to go off of birth control for months to let my body rebalance. Once things were level, I was able to go back on and felt safe about exploring my sexuality (something I was stressed to do when my body was so irregular). In the process of exploration I accepted that I am queer and have been off of birth control for a couple years at this point. My journey with birth control has definitely been complicated, but I am deeply grateful that despite the complications I was able to have access to it.
