I started taking birth control at age 18. I got started on the pill because the doctor at the time said it was the most effective with the least side effects. I have tried a variety of brands and generic prescriptions with the most common side effects being hormonal acne. In general, my periods are predictable and very minimal, and I don’t experience menstrual cramps, making my life easier. I don’t love having to remember to take the pill every day and panic when I forget, but I like that I have very minimal side effects.
